Unsaturated Fats: Best Sources By Gabriel Pediatrics

By Katie Arden

In general, most of the food that you eat from day to day should be composed of unsaturated fats. There are a few exceptions, of course, but it's clear that these types of fats are ones which have the most positive influence in the long run. Many medical authorities, Gabriel Pediatrics included, can tell you all about this but looking for the best sources of these fats is another story entirely. Here are a couple of points to keep in mind for the sake of your health.

Unsaturated fats can come in many forms and Gabriel Pediatrics can attest to the fact that olive oil is one of the most important to consider. There are many reasons why this type of oil is recommended and its various health properties are ones that can be seen by various names in the realm of medicine, Gabriel included. Before you decide on a particular type of olive oil, though, be mindful of its grade. For example, if you are looking for as many benefits as possible, extra virgin is the way to go.

Avocados are worth looking into and, if you'd like to know, both poly and monounsaturated fats can be found. In addition, the product is surprisingly easy on the calories, as a single avocado contains only about 250 calories. With that said, it is important to look at the other nutrients to consider, as essential vitamins help to make these products that much better. One shopping tip to take into consideration is to choose softer avocados that do not go too overboard as far as this is concerned.

One other source of unsaturated fats may be seen in your favorite type of nut. Keep in mind that nuts like peanuts and almonds, while healthful in their own right, stand the chance of containing higher levels of sodium. If you are able to maintain a certain level of intake without going overboard, though, it's hard to imagine how certain options won't be able to help. One of the best examples that I can name off are pecans, as they contain properties which can benefit your arteries.

The healthiest regimens are one which hinge on the types of foods that are eaten, so unsaturated fats are more than worth looking into. It's important to bear in mind, though, that too much fat can wind up being a bad thing. As a result, the intake of such foods as avocados and pecans should be maintained. If you are able to go about this with a sense of self-control put into place, I have reason to believe that your health will only become better.
