Looking for Diamond Water? It may be the healthiest water ever bottled. But you may want to consider some facts before you spend nearly $3 a liter.
Asa Soltan Rahmati is the creator of Diamond Water. She describes it as a 9.5 pH water that has been infused with "Love Energy" through an "ancient ritual" involving diamonds. She is one of the stars of Bravo's Sahs of Sunset, a proponent of an alkaline lifestyle including alkaline food and water, and has degrees in psychology and philosophy.
Although the name says Diamond Water, you won't be drinking any diamond dust! Instead, the water is infused with diamond energy, which is described on the Diamond Water website as "the highest spiritual vibration that brings balance to your soul."
The other characteristic of "Diamond Water" is that it is alkaline, a 9.5 pH. 9.5 pH is widely believed to be the perfect pH for drinking water. Studies have been done on glacial streams, longevity springs, and even the so-called "Fountain of Youth" in Lourdes, France and one characteristic common to these waters is the 9.5 pH. People who drink water from these sources are much healthier than the general population, with reduced cases of adult onset diseases like cancer and diabetes and longer lifespans.
On the Diamond Water website, claims are made that 9.5 pH alkaline water can "boost your metabolism", neutralize acid in your bloodstream", and even "help prevent disease."
However, the OTHER critical characteristic to the waters studied in France, the longevity springs, and the glacial streams is that they all had a high negative ORP.
A negative ORP refers to the "oxygen reduction potential" of the water. In other words, it measures the water's antioxidant level. It has an abundance of ions to GIVE when water has a strong negative ORP. When this water is consumed, it gives those ions to unstable oxygen molecules in our cells called FREE RADICALS. Once the free radical receives the extra ion, it stabilizes and becomes oxygen that our body absorbs as ENERGY.
Water with a strong negative ORP CLEANSES our body and it also gives our body ENERGY.
Can you believe it?
The problem is Diamond Water does not claim to have a strong negative ORP. They are mum about the process they use to make the water alkaline.
Since Diamond Water does not describe their process, we have no way of knowing about the antioxidant level of their water, and that is something I would want to know before I spend nearly $3 a liter.
Consider this: water, once removed from it's energy source like the sun, FALLS APART. The antioxidants fizzle out like carbonation in a soda and becomes OXIDIZING to your body. Think rust. Even though the water may be alkaline, it can have a positive ORP meaning it will steal electrons from your body and DAMAGE YOUR CELLS.
The spiritual component of Diamond Water is a matter of faith. It boils down to whether or not you believe Asa has the ability to change the properties of water through a diamond ritual and whether she can do that to thousands and thousands of gallons of water before she bottles it.
Consider an alternative to Diamond water: water ionizers. Water ionizers are designed to recreate the most natural water in the world. The do this by first filtering the water to 99.99 %+ purity using multi-stage filtration systems that include activated carbon, ceramic, felt, and even ion resin exchange for fluoride and heavy metal removal. They then run this pure water over platinum-titanium plates that mimic the sun's process of energizing water. And it works! The water that is created comes out a perfect 9.5 pH and has a strong negative ORP. A water ionizer can also create many other pH levels that are very useful to cooking and cleaning.
Water ionizers have been around for a long time. They were invented nearly forty years ago and multiple clinical studies have been done to document their health benefits.
If you're still considering Diamond Water for nearly $3 a liter let me throw out just one more point.. Over the lifespan of a water ionizer, the average cost per liter of water made is only $.0164. That's less than two cents a liter! You have to consume an average of eight ounces of water every hour to keep hydrated. How much are you willing to spend?
