Gabriel Pediatrics & Your Child's Self-Esteem

By Bob Oliver

When it comes to child development, it's easy to see that there is a tremendous amount of focus seen in confidence building. A number of elements play into how confidence is constructed over the course of time, such as a child attaining a number of poor test grades. As a parent, you may be curious as to how exactly to go about the buildup of confidence from a young age. There are many points to consider and I am sure that Gabriel Pediatrics can direct your attention to each of them.

When you think about the times when confidence-building can come about, it can go back as early as infancy. You may not believe that this is true but keep in mind that there are moments which call for positive reinforcement. There are a number of examples to be seen here, whether it is a matter of your child eating on their own for the first time or what have you. As a parent, it is up to you to not only provide assistance, in moderate amounts, but moral support as well.

Opportunities to learn are crucial for your child's development, which is a point that very few will be able to overstate. However, as much as you may want to become involved in your child's learning process, sometimes it is best to take a few steps back. They have to be able to learn how to tackle challenges on their own. Yes, chances are they will stumble many times along the way but this is all part of confidence-building and the rewards that can be gained after several attempts.

No one wants to make mistakes but I am of the opinion that they are needed in order for children to grow. It's understandable that only through several missteps and stumbles can a tremendous task become accomplished. What this means is that patience has to be seen from all sides, not only in regards to children and parents as well, which is a point that Gabriel Pediatrics can agree with. Patience is important when it comes to confidence-building, as names such as Gabriel will tell you.

You should feel proud when you see your child take it upon him or herself to tackle certain challenges as they grow older. This is one of the most crucial points of confidence that is built over the course of time. However, as much as you will want this for your child, it is clear that becoming too involved in the matter can actually wind up becoming a negative for their growth in the long term. As a result, if you want to help your child in the long term, you should only get involved when it's needed the most.
