Home Remedies To Use When Ailing

Home remedies are used to cure simple ailments that frustrate daily human activities. A home remedy can be described as any general treatment taken from home to cure certain ailments by use of vegetables, certain proven items or spices. Although there are some proven home remedies for different ailments, not all of them actually work. Some were just passed down the family through tradition. Some good examples of these ailments include: head aches, fevers and sprains.

If you suffer from severe headaches from time to time, a sweet smelling solution of peppermint essential oil could come in handy. This is convenient since it is not expensive and it is also natural as well. Apply it into your temples and leave it for some thirty minutes to soothe your nerves.

Some people suffer from abnormal swelling of the abdominal area, a condition called bloating. If so, some dandelion tea can help get rid of the excess water the body is retaining. This it does by triggering bile juice from the liver which smashes fatty meals which make you bloated. A cup a day could make a positive change.

For those who frequently complain of back aches or pain, you can reduce the pain by applying peppermint ice massage. It has being proven that massages alone, peppermint oil menthol and ice are great remedies for back pain. First put a cup of water mixed with a few drops of peppermint oil in a refrigerator and leave it to freeze. Afterwards, remove it and have one of your friends massage it onto your back.

For those who have sore throats or persistent coughs, before rushing to the doctor, try a simple home remedy. You can make quick syrup made of cayenne pepper (1/4 teaspoon), water (2 tablespoons), apple cider vinegar (one teaspoon), and honey (one tablespoon). The mixture helps reduce the coughs and compel the sore throats, especially honey which has being traditionally used as a cure for persistent coughs.

If a brain freeze occurs, normally when something cold touches the roof of your mouth on a very hot day, you can reduce the pain by sticking your thump onto the palate and then apply pressure on it for about thirty to sixty seconds. This pain, caused by the sudden change of temperature in the tissues, disappears as a result of the heat generated from the tongue.

For those who lack sleep at night, a condition known as insomnia, you can try taking tart cherry juice at night. The melatonin in the tart cherry helps to reduce insomnia. Taking just a cup of it every night before going to sleep can be very helpful. You will find that you experience a good night sleep by replacing it with the usual midnight snack that you take.

For muscle aches and pulls, wrap a chunk of blue cheese on your shins when they are numb or have pain. The blue cheese behaves like a cold therapy for the muscles, cooling the nerves and reducing the pain much faster. Taking a warm shower also helps the muscles to relax and reduce the tension on the legs. If you have inflammation or you are bruised, try rubbing an ice pack on the affected part for about a half an hour.
